STATEMENT FROM THE SHIRE PRESIDENT
Published on Wednesday, 29 January 2025 at 3:11:18 PM
The elected Council of the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes voted to terminate the employment of CEO, Nicole Gibbs, in a Special Council Meeting held on the 28 January 2025. This decision follows an independent investigation, initiated by Council in October 2024, into allegations of inappropriate conduct against Ms. Gibbs.
In summary, the investigation substantiated that Ms. Gibbs engaged in misconduct including by causing an increase to her salary by 4.6% without obtaining the necessary authorisation of Council.
At the time the allegations were first raised, Council was advised that it should refrain from public disclosure while the investigation was ongoing. This was a difficult decision given the acknowledged obligation and desire of the Council to be fully transparent with ratepayers.
In the interim, the Council has taken proactive measures to ensure the continued smooth operation of the Shire. An acting CEO was appointed to maintain the provision of services and assist Council in navigating this period of transition.
Moving forward, Council’s focus will be on commencing a process for the recruitment of a new CEO to ensure a smooth transition of Executive Management as quickly as possible.
Any enquires should be directed to the CEO on BTNSHIRE@bridgetown.wa.gov.au
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cr Tracy Lansdell
PRESIDENT
