Picture of traineesWe are always sad when the time comes to say goodbye, as the year draws to a close we are farewelling our two dynamite trainees, Kahlia Davidson and Sage Fiorenza who joined us earlier in the year.

Both Kahlia and Sage have brought a sense of lightness and enthusiasm to our Admin Building and Leisure Centre. We know that with their positive attitude as well as the experience they have each gained from their traineeship they will excel in their future endeavours.

Kahlia, our Customer Service and Admin Trainee, handled a diverse range of responsibilities including: Department of Transport licensing enquiries, incoming mail distribution, banking, facility hires, and updating noticeboards. During her time at the Shire, she has also received her Certificate III in Business and upskilled in records management. She has certainly left a positive impact on our customers. We have seen her grow into a confident and extremely capable employee who has become a valued team member. When asked the benefits of the Shire’s traineeship, Kahlia said it is an amazing opportunity to learn a diverse range of customer service skills, better understand the inner workings of Local Government and interact with Bridgetown residents.

Sage, our Recreation and Culture Trainee, exhibited immense adaptability as he assisted multiple facilities including the Leisure Centre and Library. During his time with us he completed a Certificate III in Business and Administration and received his qualification in pool operations, which has led to ongoing employment with us at the Aquatics Complex. Over the 12 months in the role, Sage has assisted to develop budgets for programs, created a database for the Brierley Jigsaw Gallery by cataloguing over 300 items and always had a fresh perspective to offer. Sage says he has had some great mentors during his traineeship, including Renae from the Library, and Sonja and Aaron from the Leisure Centre who have helped him develop his workplace skills.

If working with us sounds interesting and you are keen to kick start your professional career we are currently seeking youth applications for both our Community Services and Customer Services Traineeships.
