Did you know that the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes is a Waterwise Endorsed Council?
Since 2021 the Shire have taken action to reduce corporate water use by undertaking water efficient upgrades, such as low water use showers and toilets in public facilities, education, and awareness of the importance of promptly reporting leaks, planting waterwise native plants and mulching, and more.
With climate change having visible effect on our local environment, we can all be doing our part to reduce our water use and contributing to an overall reduction. Like they say – teamwork makes the dream work 😊
Let's continue building on these ways to reduce our water usage at home ...
You can also consider these additional actions:
- Upgrade your appliances with higher water efficiency as a priority e.g. washing machines and dishwashers.
- Stockpile your washing and dishes to ensure you have a full load. If your clothes aren’t dirty or smelly, they’ve got another wear in them!
- Water the garden when it matters – the night before or early mornings are best to maximise water absorption
- Protect your garden with mulch to reduce water loss and protect your soil
- Fix leaks to reduce water wastage
- Ensure your toilet has a half and full flush option (rebate available for scheme water users).
Spread the word and teach others about the value of our water and together we can accelerate our progress to being a more sustainable Shire.
