We would like to introduce you to our new CESM, Ben Armstrong.

The position of CESM is a partnership between DEFES and the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes. A CESM primarily manages the delivery and implementation of preparedness, prevention, response and recovery services. Strategically, CESMs develop effective partnerships that adopt a best practice approach to emergency management delivery between the Shire, DFES, Volunteer Bushfire Brigades, SES and you, the community. We look forward to sharing more about what Ben and the team are up to as they work toward keeping us all safe.

Welcome Ben!

“My Wife and I, three out of our four kids,  son-in-law and grandchild, have recently moved down from the Murray Shire (Dwellingup) to Boyupbrook, where we are building our own home and enjoying the space and freedom on small acreage. During my time in Dwellingup, I was an active Volunteer Bush Fire fighter and held the position as Dwellingup’s Fire Control Officer (FCO )and also the Deputy Chief for the Shire of Murray for more than 20 years.

Our family has always enjoyed the lower South West and we have been visiting the area for many years, Bridgetown-Greenbushes offers a variety of activities and provides a picturesque back drop to bring up our growing family.

I predominantly have worked in heavy industry and have been involved in Emergency Services (Mines Rescue) for nearly 30 years, during my time I have been working professionally in senior leadership roles in emergency services for 15 plus years, specialising in Emergency Services, Work Health & Safety and Risk management.

I enjoy all aspects of emergency management and look forward to working with the community of Bridgetown-Greenbushes to strive for a safer community.

Fun Fact – I have raced in the nation Offroad racing championship for approximately 8 years and I was the State champion in Class for Production 4WD in 2016, racing a GQ patrol.”
