Did you know that Bridgetown is the only Heritage listed town in the South West.
Karen Hill, our Visitor's Service Manager has lots of experience and interest in the heritage space and taken the opportunity to work alongside others in the community to establish a Heritage Festival for Bridgetown-Greenbushes.
The Festival will run from Monday 17th April - Sunday 23rd April. This coincides with the Australian Heritage Festival which runs for the whole month.
Having the festival run over these dates means it also coincides with the second week of school holidays. This allows visitors to the region to enjoy and engage with the activities scheduled as well as providing local families with activities to experience with the kids.
Some of these include:
Heritage Themed Rhyme Time at the Library Wednesday 19th April
Bridgedale House Open Day Friday 21st April
Jigsaw Gallery Open Day Sat 22nd April
Greenbushes Discovery Centre Free Entry as part of the Community Mining Heritage Festival Sat 22nd April

The Heritage Festival will also feature daily half price Bridgetown History Walks, run by Richard Allen. Our Visitor's Centre team were lucky enough to experience a preview tour and as the tours are dog friendly even Bella the dog could join in.
Photo features the Visitor Centre Team (left to right): New staff member Sophia, who has previously worked at the Carnarvon Visitor Centre, Karen Hill, Visitor Services Manager, and staff member Tessa and her dog Bella, who has been in Bridgetown for many years and some may recognise her from her days working at one of Bridgetown’s attractions, The Cidery and Richard Allen, who leads the Bridgetown History Walks and is also involved with the Bridgetown Historical Society.
Karen hopes that the Heritage Festival will encourage locals to be a tourist in their own town and is excited to showcase to the rest of the state our amazing Heritage.
