Fire Restrictions Apply

Past Event

Due to seasonal conditions, notice is hereby given pursuant to section 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954 (as amended), the Shire of Bridgetown - Greenbushes will commence in the Restricted Burning Period from Friday 18 October 2019.

This means that Permits for all fires will be required from the 18th October and are available from your local Fire Control Officer.

Permits will only be issued for necessary burning during this period, and will not be issued for burning of garden waste, which can be disposed of for free at the Bridgetown Refuse site during opening hours.

Furthermore, a ban on lighting up any pile of green waste larger than 2 cubic metres in size, or any harvested plantation is prohibited under section 46 of the Bush Fires Act, effective from 11 October 2019 until lifted.  Exemptions to this clause apply where burn offs are undertaken by a prescribed fire agencies approved by the Shire of Bridgetown - Greenbushes.

All burn piles and plantation fires must be fully extinguished to the satisfaction of a Fire Control Officer by Friday the 18th October 2019.

Permit holders are reminded that they are responsible for any fires lit under the permit, and penalties apply should conditions be breached.
