The Shire has partnered with Bridgetown Hub, Bridgetown and Greenbushes CRC’s and Blackwood Biosecurity Inc to present ‘ACTIVATE 2024’ - a series of FREE capacity building workshops to help strengthen community and volunteer groups within our region.

This exciting program of events has been made possible through funding from the Department of Social Services, Talison Lithium and Rural Aid and will be held this September, from Monday 2 through to Friday 6.

Peter Kenyon, ‘Bank of I.D.E.A.S.’ Founder and Director, will be facilitating two of the fantastic open community sessions during the week. Peter has 35 years of experience working in the field of community change and renewal and has worked with communities in over 55 countries. Peter can simply be described as a social capitalist and community enthusiast.

The first of these two community sessions will be a ‘Community Opportunities Workshop’ (C.O.W.) to be held on Tuesday 3 September from 5.30pm to 9pm at the Bridgetown Gardens Function Centre. This event is open to all community members and will be a place for everyone to engage in conversation, bounce ideas off each other and participate in prioritising possible and desired actions important for the future success of Bridgetown-Greenbushes. A light dinner will be provided during this session, bookings are essential – BOOK HERE.

The second of Peter’s workshops will focus on how our community can best work together. Following the ‘Asset Based Community Development’ process, Peter will look at existing groups within our community and how they can better support each other into the future. This event will also be held at the Bridgetown Gardens Function Centre on Thursday 5 September and will run from 8.30am to 4pm with lunch provided, bookings are essential – BOOK HERE.

At the end of this process, and in conjunction with other community discussions, a Community Action Plan will be developed that will outline steps and actions and a ‘Community Committee’ will be formed to ensure these actions progress into the future.

In addition, there will be another 7 community-based workshops and presentations held over the week – all with the focus of building and assisting community and volunteer groups to grow and prosper.
